Before enabling automations please review the following materials and understand the impact to your environment.

We’ve created an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to answer common questions about automations. We recommend you review the questions and answers to better understand the scope, impact and timeline of the open beta.

Loops and iterations

We don’t currently support control flow concepts such as loops, or iterations over collections of items.

The Record Modified trigger currently executes a workflow for each record individually. This differs from how triggered actions process changes.

Error handling, notifications and retries

It is possible that execution of workflows can result in errors that will stop the automation from proceeding further.

  • Automation execution can be monitored via the Activity tab on the Automation detail page.
  • If an action within an automation fails, there is no automatic retry.
  • You can check whether an action succeeded and branch your workflow accordingly, see Checking for errors.
  • It is not currently possible to retry or replay the execution of an automation.

Consumption of metered resources

The automations feature allows an administrator to more easily consume metered resources such as:

  • SMS messaging
  • Location services, for example, the Geocode Address action
