Record modified trigger
Reference for the record modified trigger: start an automation when a record is created, updated, or deleted.
Every automation needs a starting point. A trigger defines the event or condition that causes the automation to run, and provides the starting context, including the record data and event details: that subsequent steps can use.
A workflow can only have a single trigger, and it has to be the first step in any workflow.
Automations currently support four trigger types:
| Trigger type | Description |
|---|---|
| Record Modified | Start a workflow when a record is created, updated, or deleted |
| Record Time Offset | Start a workflow at a time relative to a date field on a record, for records matching a condition |
| Scheduled | Start a workflow on a recurring schedule, independent of any record |
| Event | Start a workflow when a named platform event occurs, such as a rules violation |
Each trigger type exposes a set of workflow variables that are available to all steps in the workflow.
